Pelletier Stands up for us Law Enforcement

Calls on Comstock to Speak Out Against the Release of the “Nunes Memo” (McLean, VA) – Paul Pelletier, Democratic candidate for VA-10, today called on US Representative Barbara Comstock to stand up to the Trump Administration and leaders in her Party and defend the men and women in the nation’s law enforcement agencies against the politicizing of their jobs by those who have a sole interest in carrying out their own agendas.

“The imminent release of the debunked ‘Nunes Memo’ over the objections of the Department of Justice and the FBI would continue the quest of the Trump Administration and the Republican-led House to erode and debase important law enforcement pillars of our Democracy and our national security with the single goal of providing false political cover to the President to deflect Mueller's independent investigation into his campaign's collusion with Russia,” stated Pelletier.

Pelletier points out that the evidence that Congressman Nunes collaborated with the White House in drafting the memo shows the political corruption surrounding the so-called memo.

“With so much at stake, the Republicans in the House simply cannot shirk their duty to act as a check and balance to Trump's craven attempts to run the country like he ran Trump University,” said Pelletier. “The constant false narratives and calculated ploys are precisely why the American people have lost faith in the Republicans in control.

“I urge the Republicans in the House of Representatives, most especially Barbara Comstock, to do their jobs and stand up for the democratic ideals upon which America was founded and to stand up for the integrity of our men and women serving in law enforcement, to stand up for our national security, and immediately halt the release of this hoax referred to as the ‘Nunez memo.’” said Pelletier.

After serving as a federal prosecutor for over 27 years, Pelletier retired from the Department of Justice in 2011. While at Justice, Pelletier developed a reputation as a fearless fighter who would successfully prosecute the biggest and baddest criminals, including international drug kingpins, Wall Street and banking executives and corrupt politicians, on both sides of the aisle.
